17-story, 117-unit multi-family vintage cooperative building constructed in mid-1920s.
Building was struggling to meet City of Chicago minimum electrical service entrance requirements for a multi-family dwelling due to the addition of air conditioning and home appliances (dishwashers, electric ranges and dryers) within several units, which, if continued, would risk overloading the systems.
Prepared electrical single line diagrams through survey due to the fact that existing drawings could not be located or relied upon.
Facilitated thermal scans at major electrical panels to identify areas of high heat and potential fire hazard.
Project eliminated existing cloth wire risers, removed problematic main switchboard, and included a complete electrical upgrade to an adequately sized overhead service from ComEd to meet current and future additional loads.
