Project Highlights & Results

  • 17-story, 117-unit multi-family vintage cooperative building constructed in mid-1920s.
  • Building was struggling to meet City of Chicago minimum electrical service entrance requirements for a multi-family dwelling due to the addition of air conditioning and home appliances (dishwashers, electric ranges and dryers) within several units, which, if continued, would risk overloading the systems.
  • Prepared electrical single line diagrams through survey due to the fact that existing drawings could not be located or relied upon.
  • Facilitated thermal scans at major electrical panels to identify areas of high heat and potential fire hazard.
  • Project eliminated existing cloth wire risers, removed problematic main switchboard, and included a complete electrical upgrade to an adequately sized overhead service from ComEd to meet current and future additional loads.
