Project Highlights & Results

  • IREM Green Design Award (2012)
  • Initial energy audit identified opportunities to improve energy efficiency, comfort, maintenance, and reliability of the building’s major mechanical systems.
  • Resulting design project replaced the existing atmospheric hot water boiler plant with a new hybrid high-efficiency solution consisting of a low-temperature condensing plant and a high-temperature plant, converted the dual temperature system to variable, installed a demand controlled ventilation system, and added a new direct digital control system.
  • Over $450,000 in energy savings during its first year in operation, a reduction of 35%, with a payback of just over 4 years plus significant cost avoidance in repair and maintenance burdens.
  • Successfully procured approximately $200,000 in incentive funding as a result of the energy efficiency measures included in the project.
