Energy Engineer

Elara Engineering is seeking an energy engineer who is passionate about providing energy efficiency and sustainability expertise to our clients and projects. This position will support the company’s product offerings with specific emphasis on performing conceptual engineering design, developing energy audits/analyses, creating and analyzing energy models, performing energy benchmarking, and preparing post-implementation analyses confirming actual weather normalized energy savings. This position will additionally support incentive program applications and LEED submissions of Elara projects. The selected individual will receive sufficient training to ensure successful integration into the team. This position will support the growth of our Energy and Commissioning team.

  • Minimum bachelor’s level degree in engineering or equivalent relevant experience
  • Basic understanding of Architectural and MEP plans and data collection knowledge
  • Passion for learning HVAC systems operation as well as conceptual engineering and energy auditing processes.
  • If no work experience, must have ability to demonstrate technical knowledge of general heat transfer and sustainable strategies
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Highly motivated with an interest in sustainable building design, self-starter with the ability to research independently
  • Energetic with proven ability to work in a deadline driven environment
  • Organized and collaborative with high attention to detail
  • Must be able to write a professional and technical report
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently while managing multiple projects
  • Preferred:
    • DOE Industrial Assessment Center Program or relevant experience
    • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit software.
    • Basic knowledge of building codes/certifications such as ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, LEED, Energy Star etc.
